CMAT Frequently asked questions




Question 1) Is CMAT going to be ONLINE exam?

Answer: Yes, CMAT will be a computer-based test (CBT). A candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.

Question 2) Can i take a trial CMT test?

Answer: CMAT trial test is available on the website www.aicte-cmat.in for candidates to get familiarized with the functionality and navigation of the actual Computer Based test.

Question 3) Can I take the test from my computer?

Answer: No. A candidate will have to test on a pre-assigned workstation and will not have a choice to choose his or her workstation, in the testing venue chosen by him/her during the time of registration.

Question 4) How does Computer based test (CBT) take place?

Answer: A Practice Test is available here to familiarise candidates with the navigation and functionality of the CMAT. Note that the sample Questions are not representative of the content or difficulty level of the actual test.


REGISTRATION

Question 1) Eligibility of CMAT?

Answer: The candidate must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree of three year duration after 10+2. Candidates who have appeared in the final year exams of Bachelor’s degree program and are awaiting results can also appear in the test.


Question 2) What should be maximum/minimum age of candidate for CMAT?

Answer: No, there is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT.

Question 3) What is the fee for the CMAT?

Answer: The fee is Rs.1200 + Bank charges as applicable for General / OBC candidates. If you belong to the SC/ST/PD category then you need to pay a fee of Rs.600 + Bank charges as applicable

Question 4) Can I pay the fees through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque?

Answer: No. Fees can only be paid online or through cash deposit in any of the SBI bank branch.

Question 5) When and how do I register for CMAT 2012 ?

Answer: Online registration for CMAT 2012 will begin on Friday, 9th December 2011 and end on Sunday, 22 January 2012. Additional instructions for the online application and registration process are also available on the website www.aicte-cmat.in

Question 6) When will CMAT be held and can I choose a test city?

Answer: CMAT will be held during the period Monday, 20 February 2012 – Tuesday, 28 February 2012. Yes, you can select up-to 3 cities giving order of preference towards your test city. The first choice of city will be given due consideration and weightage. However, actual allotment as per order of choice will be subject to availability of the slot in the particular city.

Question 7) From where can I get the list of test centres?

Answer: A list of test centres will be available on the website under CMAT Test Site link.

Question 8) When will one get his Admit Card for CMAT?

Answer: Soon after you fill-in, review, and submit your personal information during the online application, an automated confirmation email, which will contain your Application Summary, will be sent to the email address provided by you.

Question 9) What details will be mentioned in the Admit Card?

Answer: The admit card will contain the name of the candidate, CMAT Roll number, test date, time, reporting time at the venue, venue name, venue address and instructions for the candidate.

Question 10) Will the Admit Card be sent to me as a hard copy by mail?

Answer: No. The admit card will be sent to the email address provided by you, only after you have filled in your online application and scheduled your test. It is therefore, mandatory for you to have a valid email account throughout the selection process.

Note: Admit Card is a mandatory requirement in order to test. You must bring a print out of your Admit Card to the test centre.

Question 11) When will CMAT be held and can I choose a test city?

Answer: CMAT will be held during the period Monday, 20 February 2012 – Tuesday, 28 February 2012. Yes, you can select up-to 3 cities giving order of preference towards your test city. Question 12) What are the different time slots for scheduling the CMAT on a testing day?

Answer: A typical testing day for CMAT will have 2 exam sessions. Session timings are as follows: a. Session 1: Testing will begin at 9:30 AM. Candidates are required to arrive at the test centre no later than 8:00 AM for security checks, identity verification, and checking in. b. Session 2: Testing will begin at 2:30 PM. Candidates are required to arrive at the test centre no later than 1:00 PM for security checks, identity verification, and checking in.

Question 13) Can I appear for CAT more than once during the 20-day testing window in a year?

Answer: Answer: No. You can appear for CMAT only once for a year. It will be considered a fraudulent activity if one attempts to appear for CMAT more than once in a year. Admit Cards and picture IDs of the candidates will be checked, and candidate pictures and biometric information will also be captured at the test centre.

Question 14)Can I change my preferred test city after I have submitted my form?

Answer: No. No data can be changed once the form is finally submitted.


CANCELLATION

Question 1) Can I cancel the CMAT test?

Answer: No. Under no circumstances will a cancellation/refund be allowed.

Question 4) If I do not take my test, will I be eligible for a refund?

Answer: No. Your fees will not be refunded in case you do not appear for your test as per your scheduled location, date and time.


ON TESTING DAY

Question 1) What is the reporting time for the test?

Answer: Two (2) hours prior to the test time. If the test begins at 10 AM, you are advised to reach the test centre by 8 AM and no later than 8:30 AM. If the test begins at 3:30 PM, you are advised to reach the test centre by 1:30 PM and no later than 2:00 PM.

Question 2) How many sections are there in CMAT test?

Answer: There will be four sections in the test. The sections are (a) Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation b) Logical Reasoning c) Language Comprehension and d) General Awareness

Question 3) How many questions are there in each of CMAT sections?

Answer: 25 questions in each section.

Question 4) Can I move back nd forth between the four CMAT exam sections?

Answer: Yes candidate can move from and to between the CMAT sections.

Question 5) What is the duration of the CMAT test?

Answer: The duration of test will be 3 Hours(180 minutes).

Question 6) Is there any negative marking in CMAT exam?

Answer: Yes there will be negative marking in CMAT Exam.For each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.

Question 7)Does the name need to match with the names appearing on the identification documents?

Answer: Your name needs to be exactly identical to the name on your school-leaving certificate.

Note: - If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage, you must show the relevant document mentioned below and submit a photocopy at the time of the test, interview and at the time of joining a programme.

Question 8) What are the permitted materials I can bring with me to the test centre?

Answer: None. You will not be permitted to bring any personal items to the test centre, including but not limited to wrist-watch, pen, cellphones, calculators, etc.

Question 9) Do I have any test breaks?

Answer: No, you will not be given any breaks during the test.


SCORING

Question 1) Within how many days can I expect the results?

Answer: You will not get to see the score on test day.CMAT 2012 results are expected to be declared on 11 March 2012 on the website www.aicte-cmat.in

Question 2) Which universities / institutes will consider CMAT scores for admission?

Answer: All AICTE approved Institutes / Departments of Universities are expected to accept CMAT scores

Question 3) Will CMAT score be considered for admissions to Part Time MBA courses?

Answer: CMAT score will be considered for admissions to all AICTE approved part-time programs.

Question 4) How long is the CMAT 2012 exam score valid?

Answer: The CMAT 2012 exam score will be valid for one year.

Question 5) Can I give CMAT exam a paper pencil mode later in case I missed the Online examination?

Answer: CMAT is a computer based online exam scheduled in two sessions from 20th to 28th February, 2012. There will no other mode of test including paper pencil exam later at any stage for CMAT.
