United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Team Visits School in Krishnagiri More Details...

A two-member team from Education Sector, UNICEF, New Delhi visited Krishnagiri district on Friday to review the execution of UNICEF-supported education initiatives in schools run by National Child Labour Prevention Program (NCLP), Activity-Based Learning (ABL) and Kasturiba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV). The team led by Chetana Kohli, Project Officer, Education and Kiran visited the Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Megalachinnampalli near here and interacted with the students. District Collector Santhosh Babu said that the district administration had developed a tracking and monitoring software to help those families, which need economic assistance and other support to assist the children, continue in school. According to UNICEF District Coordinator P. Ganesamoorthi, in order to prevent mainstreamed child labourers from dropping out of regular schools, UNICEF had developed two kinds of follow-up Program (residential and non-residential) aimed at outgoing children of NCLP schools.
