Trichi District Exnora rope in 20 more Colleges More Details...


Tiruchi: The Tiruchi District Exnora will rope in 20 more colleges this academic year making the number of colleges with Student Exnora in the district 70. At the inauguration of 11-day celebrations of its 10th anniversary on Tuesday, new office-bearers were installed and annual awards presented to various schools and colleges. Distributing special awards, the Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, M. Ponnavaikko, raved about the activities of Student Exnora at college-level. Quoting few couplets from Thirukurral / Dr. Ponnavaikko said that humanitarian service should be an innate quality of every individual. He urged the students to take up the social responsibility of creating environmental awareness among peers. The students should create a new society free from social problems and make the world a better place to live. About 15 persons from various educational institutions received the annual award. The outstanding head of the institution award at the college level went to the Principal of Bishop Heber College, Marcus Diepen Boominathan. At the school level, two persons shared the award, the Principal of Arockia Matha Higher Secondary School, S. Baskaran,- and the Headmistress of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mannachanallur, T. Lalitha. The outstanding supporting institution award (school) was presented to Alpha Plus Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The outstanding Students' Exnora award (college) was bagged by National College at the college level and Brindavan Vidyalaya, at the school level. Jesintha Lazarus, IAS officer from Tiruchi and Sub-Divisional Officer, Manipur, was the guest of honour.
