Dental Technologist/Technician/Mechanics Medical Course

Dental Mechanics work under dentists.Dental mechanics assist dentists to diagnose dental problems of patients and make dental ceramics for them.Dental mechanics are trained to design dental accessories and help dental surgeons during surgeries. After completion of the course, the students can either pursue higher studies (Post graduate diploma) or look for suitable job opportunities.

Dental Mechanics can find jobs in following sectors:

A dental technologist/technician/Mechanics is a member of the dental team who, upon prescription from a dental clinician, constructs custom made restorative and dental appliances.

There are four major disciplines within dental technology. These are fixed prosthesis including crowns, bridges and implants; removable prosthesis, including dentures and removable partial dentures; maxillofacial prosthesis, including ocular prosthesis and craniofacial prosthesis; and orthodontics and auxiliaries, including orthodontic appliances and mouthguards

Eligibility:

Applicants will have to pass their higher secondary with a minimum of 50% with Science subjects (Physics, Biology, and Chemistry). Some institutes conduct entrance examinations to screen the students further whereas in some, admissions are based on merit basis.

Medical students requested cancellation of the Uttar Pradesh Post Graduate Medical Entrance Exam (PGMEE)

Group of students met chief minister and requested him to cancel state post graduate medical entrance exam (PGMEE), senior officials have already denied their request

Official, said “Hearing in the case is still on in Supreme Court and it is only after the final decision of court regarding the examination that we can say anything about fate of UP PGMEE”.

State was holding exam on court’s direction. Court also directed states to put declaration of their state PGMEE on hold till the final decision is announced. Next hearing of this case is scheduled on March 19.

Students stated that they had already taken the National entrance-cum-eligibility test (NEET) for admission to state medical colleges in November and December 2012 the score of which was out. Purpose of UP PGMEE was also the same so there was no point in repeating the entire exercise.

BOT (Bachelor of Occupational Therapy)

Bachelors in Physiotherapy (B.P.T)

BPT is  a 4 year – undergraduate program in physiotherapy (BPT) with 6 months of mandatory clinical internship.

After the graduation Physiotherapist  could go for further specialization in Neurology, Orthopaedics (Musculoskeletal), Sports, Obs-Gynae, Cardio-Thoracic or undertake Research.

Physiotherapist in India use the title ‘Doctor’ & prefix it before their name with a suffix P.T. (Physiotherapist) so as to make their stand clear they are not medical doctors. However, the use of the title ‘Dr’ according to the IAP (Indian Association of Physiotherapist) is by tradition and convention & is used in the same manner as it is used by the MBBS/MS/BDS/MDS/BHMS/BAMS/BUMS degree holders.

MBBS in India

MBBS is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

There is a semester exam at the end of each semester and a Professional exam at the end of each professional. Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is known as B-Pharma in India.B Pharma is 4 year degree program.BPHarma is available in annual and semester schemes.
A Bachelor of Pharmacy is an undergraduate academic degree in the field of pharmacy.In the United States, this degree was granted as the baccalaureate pharmacy degree only at Washington State University, where it has now been superseded by the PharmD degree.

Eligibility for B-Pharma

In order to be eligible, one must pass with at least 50% marks in 10 + 2 (or an equivqlent examination) with biology/biotechnology as one of the subjects. In some states it is mandatory to give an additional pharmacy entrance examination in order to be eligible for the course. AICTE  is going to conduct an additional online all India CMAT examination for year 2013-14  to facilitate those candidates who could not appear in earlier CMAT.
