Difference between CAT and CMAT (CAT vs CMAT)

For taking admission in management programmes in India, candidate can either go for CAT, CMAT or GMAT.Here we are discussing difference between CAT and CMAT.

1. CAT is conducted by IIMs. CMAT is conducted by AICTE.
2. Apart from 13 IIMs another 100 colleges accept CAT scores.  Many colleges accept CMAT scores.
3. CAT has been conducted once in a year between October and November. CMAT first paper has been conducted twice in a year.

8. Students can not move back to sections. Students can move back forth to/from sections.
9. 2 sections 30 questions each, 70 minutes each 4 sections 25 questions each

11. There is negative marking in the exam, for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted & for correct answer candidate will get Three marks will be awarded There is no penalty for questions that are left unanswered. AICTE announces the schedule for conducting National Level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) to select suitable students for admission in management programmes for academic year 2015 – 16 .

The candidates will be given two opportunities to appear in CMAT:

  1. First in September, 2014
  2. Second in February, 2015 .

The better of two scores will be used for admission for 2015 – 16.

Eligibility
Graduates in any discipline or Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2 + 3) whose res ult will be  declared before commencement of admission for 2015 can apply for CMAT online .

Online from 3 rd July , 201 4 to 25 th August , 201 4 on website www.aicte – cmat.in

Choice of 3 dates and 3 cities of India for on-line examination in the order of preference may be entered. “Allotment will be based on first come first served . Actual allotment however will be subject to availability of the slots in a particular city.

Admission Process “The detailed merit list will be provided to the respective State Governments for allotting the students through central counselling or otherwise as per their notified admission  procedure. “In case there is no central counselling , scores awarded will be used for admission in the AICTE approved  Institutes /University Departments.
