Difference between CAT and CMAT (CAT vs CMAT)

For taking admission in management programmes in India, candidate can either go for CAT, CMAT or GMAT.Here we are discussing difference between CAT and CMAT.

CAT

CMAT

1. CAT is conducted by IIMs. CMAT is conducted by AICTE.
2. Apart from 13 IIMs another 100 colleges accept CAT scores.  Many colleges accept CMAT scores.
3. CAT has been conducted once in a year between October and November. CMAT first paper has been conducted twice in a year.

5. 13 IIMs, NITIE, MDI, SPJIMR etc JBIMS – MUMBAI, SIMSREE- MUMBAI, SIMSREE – MUMBAI and many more
6. Duration: 140 minutes(2 hours 20 minutes) 180 minutes (3 hours)
7. Approximate 2 lakh candidates participated. Approximate 4 lakh candidates participated.
8. Students can not move back to sections. Students can move back forth to/from sections.
9. 2 sections 30 questions each, 70 minutes each 4 sections 25 questions each
10. First Section : Quantitative ability & Data interpretation
Second Section : Verbal ability & Logical reasoning
First Section: Quantitative Techniques & Data
Interpretation
Second Section: Logical Reasoning
Third Section: Language Comprehension
Fourth Section: General Awareness
11. There is negative marking in the exam, for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted & for correct answer candidate will get Three marks will be awarded There is no penalty for questions that are left unanswered.
